In the December holiday in Hållsta the weather is generally erratic. It can be very cold after a short period of thaw. It can be stormy with all its consequences. But this year, the Suite year, everything seems like a fairytale. During the first days of our stay there it snows continuously, leaving a huge amount of snow. And I’m working and looking out from behind my desk at the dam, which would later become the hallmark of the Suite. And writing is automatic. I have moved everything I wrote in November to later in the Suite. I would like to start with Big Band fireworks. Apart from the artistic content of the Suite, it is of course also very important that we can play and swing. And I have to deal with a certain order in terms of Treats songs. The story must be told. The beginning of the Suite describes my “old” life, where I always looked very critically at whether or not to have success, and that linked to all kinds of random indicators. It all seemed to go well, but my thoughts were too toxic to live on. I.a.w. swinging but always working with the outside world. The first days of the December holiday I wrote about 10 minutes of the Suite. The beginning to the obstinato piano and the confusing and disturbed 5/4 measure. Everything comes as well as naturally, partly inspired by a beautiful Hållsta.
